About Flood & Drain Systems
How flood and drain works
Each plant sits in a pot of clay pebbles in a tray. Several times a day the brain pot pumps the nutrient solution out to flood every tray, roots drink and take up feed, and then it all drains back to the tank, pulling fresh air down through the pebbles. Every pot in the system is fed and drained together on one timer, so a 12-pot room is as easy to run as a single pot.
Standard, Pro or Trident
The standard system uses the classic remote brain and pots. The PRO uses larger fittings and a faster flood for bigger rooms. The Trident is IWS's newer design with a 16 or 25 litre pot and its own fittings. All three grow one pot at a time, and the fittings and spares here keep them running.
Medium and feeding
Clay pebbles, rinsed, are the standard medium; some growers use a 60/40 pebble and coco mix for a bit of buffering. Change the tank weekly and keep an air stone in it.
