Seramis is a growing medium made from clay granules mined in Germany and offers an inert medium that’s impossible to over-water. It is made by taking clay granules from the Westerwald region in Germany, 90% of which are sized between 2-4mm, and then heating them which causes them to expand and become porous. The clay granules are totally inert and provide a pH stable, low-residue medium that can be used over and over again. We recommend rinsing the granules before their first use, punching holes in the bottom of the bag and running a hose through it is probably the easiest way. We have found that Seramis performs best when used with a drip-feed system such as the Wilma, as the granules will absorb as much nutrient solution as possible and then let the rest drain through so it is impossible to overwater. The pump can and should be run constantly once the plants have established roots, however in the early stages you may wish to hold back on the watering until the plants have put down roots into the Seramis itself. Seramis Clay Granules are available in 3, 8 and 15-litre bags and can be reused. |
