NFT Grotanks & Accessories
- For successful & effective growing ensure that your plants are showing a very good covering of white roots before they are added to the system. Using a spreader mat will ensure the nutrient is distributed over an even area. Where necessary the spreader mat can be cut a few inches longer so that it overhangs the channel into the tank meaning you won’t get any trickling sounds as the solution runs back in.
- If the noise is not an issue avoid this approach as the trickling sound is the breaking of the water’s surface tension, which aids oxygenation. In our experience NFT tanks produce very rapid growth and when used with care are highly recommended. However be aware that in the event of a pump failure your plants will not be able to survive long – this will also depend on the amount of heat from your grow light.
- As there is no substrate to support them you’re probably looking at a couple of hours max. Nutrient solution should be replaced about once a week. Recycle the old nutrient in your garden, it will love it! We stock 4 sizes of Grotank to suit different levels of expertise and growing space. Larger systems are available in our Bristol store.
